This is My account of dealings with Foreman Motors July 2007 I searched the Internet, primarily using Auto Trader online, for 2 months looking for just the right deal on a car I had wanted for many years. I had researched the model extensively and knew most of the qualities and quarks associated with it. Most cars were a good distance from my home and being disabled I needed to be sure the car I choose was in as good condition as possible before checking it out in person. I found one in Melbourne Florida (87.6 miles) and called to check the car out as best I could over the phone. I spoke with a salesman named Robert and asked many questions specific to the year and model of the car. He first told me the car was in like new condition for the year and ready to go. Some questions he couldn’t answer so I asked him to look the car over again and call me back. When he called back, he told me the only things that needed repair were the rear air suspension pump and the power brake booster, everything else was in great shape and the car had been garaged. I must admit I was getting very interested and wanted to see the car. I told him my son would have to drive me the Melbourne because I would be unable to drive the distance myself due to my health and set up the coming Friday morning (3 days later) to check out the car. On Friday morning we arrived at 10 am and the car was being repaired at their so-called shop. We looked over the car and agreed on a list of 13 items that needed attention. …And I wanted a tune up with new wires and would pay for it above and beyond the price of the car. Robert wrote everything down and agreed to do everything on the list plus:
I agreed to the purchase price of $5100.00 with the repairs plus the tune up and gave a $500.00 deposit. We agreed that I would not be back until the next Saturday giving them ample time to do all the needed work. I checked in through the week and was told they were working on it and they were still waiting for some of the parts. On Friday I called and Robert told me everything would be ready Saturday except for 3 items which still hadn’t come in. I told him to ship them to me when they come in and I would have them installed. 9am Saturday morning we arrive at the main lot and Robert hasn’t come in yet. We ask to see the car and are told it is at lot 2 so we drive to lot 2. No car…no salesman, someone directs us to lot 3. No car…no salesman. One of the sales people calls lot 1 and Robert is in and he wants us to come see home at lot 1…I tell him I want him at lot 3 and…where is the car?! Here we go, I’m p**sed, my son is p**sed and my wife is p**sed! Robert meets us and tells us the mechanic took it home to make sure everything was alright. He called to say it was running a little hot so he stopped to get a thermostat and install it. While we are waiting for him to arrive, Robert says they found some front-end linkage on the left side worn and replaced it Friday night. I am at the point were I just want my deposit back and Robert is begging me to wait until I see the car. We go back and forth for another 20 minutes and the mechanic pulls in. They replaced the brake booster, master cylinder, air suspension pump and fixed 3 other items but not all we had agreed on. I assume they did the tune up (the wires are new), oil change and brakes. I took it for a test drive and it ran absolutely wonderful so, against my wife’s advice, I bought it. The next week I took it for tires and they showed me where someone had tried cutting the wheel locks off and had cut one flat against the wheel making it impossible to remove the wheel. I had to go to a machine shop and have the stud drilled out to get the wheel off. After doing so I returned to the tire shop for tires. They called me into the shop to show me the brakes. The left front and right rear pads were replaced but the right front and left rear pads were worn out…And the right front tie rod and stabilizer link were worn out too. I called and all I got was, ”oh really, that’s too bad” and no offer to help cover the costs. At this point I decide to get the parts they owe me and be done with them. I keep bugging for the parts and also asking where the registration is since the temp tag is ready to expire. They call back and explain that the reg. is in but I will have to come to Melbourne because I owe more for the transfer. I said ok (growling!) and I’ll pick the parts at the same time. So we drive 87.6 miles back to Melbourne and get the reg. finalized. Then I see the parts they owe me and they are in worse condition then what are on the car. After another 2 weeks of back and forth discussion over the parts and finding some of them, I ask for compensation so I can find the rest myself. Joe or Dan, I don’t know which one, agrees but will not pay to mail the parts and check to me. I end up buying postage on line and faxing it to the service manager to get my parts that Robert promised would be shipped to me. The bottom line is, the overall car is in good shape and the drive train is strong. I was lucky at a cost; many others have not been so lucky! Mark July 17th, 2007 Good Morning Sir,
Just
wanted to comment in hopes that you will post this on your site. About 8
weeks ago, I purchased two vehicles from Foreman Motors.
2003 Eclipse
After only
two weeks of driving the Eclipse, the Transmission went out on
it. WE had purchased an extended warranty, so we brought
it to the Dealership to have it looked at and repaired. Come to find
out, Foreman motors did not process the paper work on the
warranty. Foreman motors came and picked up the Eclipse
and brought it back to their shop. The issue with the
Eclipse was that someone had put 90 weight gear oil In the
transmission instead of ATF oil. The whole transmission
had to be rebuilt. This was six weeks ago, and I still do
not have the vehicle back yet. Everyday they keep asking
for more money and postponing the fixing of the car. The nightmare of dealing with Foreman Motors. Danny There was an email from a dissatisfied Foreman Motors customer Explaining his experience in this spot but he asked to have it removed because the lawyers for Foreman Motors threatened to sue him for slander. If the email has effected
them to the point of threatening law suites, maybe Foreman Motors should
clean up their act so we can report positive experiences from their
customers! October 29, 2007 I
got your email address from On My Corner and had to write. I was one of February 08, 2008 Hi
I saw your website about foreman motors I just bought a 1996 Nissan Maxima
there yesterday and I take it to my mechanic today and I have almost 4000.00
in repairs that need to be done to the car and my mechanic said the car is
"unsafe" to be driving especially with me having a 8 month baby. Foreman
tells me they can only repair maybe 3-4 things out of the list of 10
problems I have and that I have to pay for half of the price!!!!!! I have no
idea what I can do I am still financing a little bit with them but I am sooo
pissed off and I have really no idea what I can do any ideas???? March 24, 2008 I am writing this to make the public aware that Foreman Motors at 1663, 1918, 1934, and 2005 Aurora Road, Melbourne, Florida are getting rich by ripping people off and that there is nothing you can do about it once they have suckered you in and you have signed there paperwork. What they are doing to people is criminal only they get away with it because they legally know how to do it! On 1/29/2008, my son called Foreman Motors in response to an ad he had seen in an auto magazine. It stated that all of their autos came with a warranty, unfortunately the time on the warranty differs with everyone you talk to and they have never given us our paperwork. When my son first looked at the car they said they needed $500 down, which he gave them as a check and they immediately put through as an electronic check. After speaking with the woman on the phone at the supposed funding source who told us that we were approved and that the payment would be $120 every two weeks we were told to wait until the papers were faxed over. After waiting at least another hour, we were told that they needed another $500 down. They said we could give them another check and they would not put it through until the following week. My son asked if he could use his Camaro for a trade and they said yes, another hour or so passed and they said they needed both a $1000 and the car. We left there that night with the agreement that they would pick up the car the next day as my son was working. My son thought about it and asked me to call them in the morning and tell them the original $500 and the car or no deal. They agreed to this, sent someone to pick up the Camaro, and offered to bring the 2000 Tiburon he was purchasing to his job as he was working late. At that time, they were to return the second check. They brought the car to his job and did not have the second check. I refused to sign anything until he at least signed something saying the check would be returned. After Adam, the salesperson, called the office and after he had a lengthy conversation with the office out of our hearing range, he finally signed a paper saying that the check would not be cashed and that the total down payment was $500 plus the Camaro. We then signed the papers to complete the deal on the bumper of my car. I asked for a copy of the papers and was told he did not have a copy and that they would be sent to us. I have called a couple of times and still have not received any paperwork. The only thing I did receive was a letter in the mail dated 1/30/2008 stating that the first regular payment of $118.65 is due on 03/01/2008 and that a 'pickup payment of $360.00' was due on 2/15/2008. No one had ever told us anything about any pick up payment. When I called the 800 number I was given to make the payment they had no record of us. When I called Foreman I was now told that they were financing the car directly and he needed to pay them. Was the $360 a way to recoup part of the $500 they had to refund us? A couple of days after purchasing the car my son took it for routine maintenance, as he had no idea when it was done. They could only change the oil and wiper blades. They told him the brake shoes were rusted and that the lug nuts were so rusted that they could not take the tires off until he brought them new lug nuts. Blake left with the car and was to bring it back the following week when he got the lug nuts. On Wed. 2/13/2008 Blake was out in his car in the rain. He went through a puddle and the car promptly died. Thinking it had stalled he tried to restart it without success. The car was towed to Tires Plus on Merritt Island, FL. The next day they called telling us that water had gotten in the engine, seized the engine, and broke the starter off. They told us that there was an after market air filter on the car that was routed too close to the ground and apparently when he went through the puddle the water went into the air filter and into the engine. He also disclosed to us that the engine was a junkyard engine out of an Elantra and not the original equipment, another fact that was not disclosed to us. When I called Joe the owner of Foreman I was told that, it was not his problem because the car had driven for 2 weeks. When I asked why it was not disclosed to us that it appeared that the car had been in water and that it was not the original engine he replied, “How would I know that”? I said automobiles are your business and you are going to tell me you did not know anything about this. He told me the warranty was only good for 24 hours and basically, it was not his problem. When a friend of ours called Foreman acting as if he wanted to purchase a car he was told that 'all the cars have a warranty', one salesman said the warranty was good for '24 hours or a year' and another one when he called back said that Foreman would cover 1/2 the cost of parts and labor on the Drive train and engine. They also told him, when asked if they inspected their cars before selling them, that they do an 'inspection on all' of the vehicles that they get there before they are put up for sale and after they are sold before they leave their lot. How did they inspect the brakes on this car if the lug nuts could not be removed? And how did they miss that it had junkyard parts on it? I called Foreman again on 2/26/2008 and asked to speak with the owner. I was told that they were too busy to talk. I asked for a manager and they put Joe (I'm not sure but I think it was the same Joe who was the owner) on the phone, I told him who I was and that I thought I had talked to him last week and he said, 'oh, it must have been Danny'. He put me back on hold and Nadia came back on and told me they were all too busy too talk to me. I complained to Consumer Protection which forwarded my complaint on to the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles but unfortunately since Foreman knows legally every “i” to dot in its contracts they can get away with ripping off unsuspecting individuals and make lots of money doing it! The phrase Buyer Beware certainly applies if shopping at Foreman or better yet There's A Fool Born Everyday! Here's hoping we can at least prevent someone else from being one of their fools!
